Pet Photo fundraiser and Bake sale

A note from some very kind Clint fundraisers:

We’ve finally reconciled and collected the money made from the Dinner and Silent Auction fundraiser we had on October 24th. We think there were about 60 people who attended.... So the total we were able to raise was $2,141.

In addition… Monica Wolff, one of our “committee members” will be mailing you another $400 (plus $25 that came through directly to you) that was collected through efforts of her daughter Amanda Tchernotzkas. Amanda coordinated a fundraising drive within her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta at the University of Connecticut. I am just amazed that these young women were so eager to help after hearing of Clinton’s plight.

Hopefully between the Pet Portrait fundraiser, the Dinner fundraiser and the Sorority donations, we’ll have Clinton “jumpin’ like a grasshopper” in no time (at least on one leg!)

Keep us all posted on his progress. We’ll look forward to tracking him on his blog!

We also wanted to give a shout out to Robin L. Sidwell of Impressions by Robin. She is a professional photographer in New England who donated her time, expertise and fees to the Clint fund. She does some incredible work. Thanks, Robin!!

Meet Clint in person!

Clint, the Labradoodle, will be at Bruster's at 4241 Hixson Pike (across from YMCA) Chattanooga, TN on Sunday, Oct 26, from 12-3. Clint was born without hips and will need to have surgery on both. His first surgery is scheduled in December and the second one will be in May. Each hip replacement will cost around $4,000.

Please come by and meet Clint. Bruster's will donate 20% of all sales to For the Love of Dogs during the hours we are there. Clint's poster is attached.

What a deal - eat delicious ice cream and help out For the Love of Dogs. If you bring your dog, they will get a free doggie
sundae. It doesn't get much better than this. Hope to see you on Sunday.

VOTE FOR US!! $25,000 grant

Petfinder and The Animal Rescue Site are offering grants to the rescue with the most votes. So far, For the Love of Dogs is number one in Tennessee to win a $25,000 grant. This is the organization paying for Clint's hip surgery. We need $8000 for his hips. Please visit this site and vote for us! It's the easiest possible way to help contribute to our cause and Clint would really appreciate it!

Here is how to do it--go to the site: $100,000 Shelter ChallengeFill in the name For the love of Dogs and the state is Tennessee (choose TN). Then they ask you to type in the name of the animal in a picture. And that's it! You have contributed to improving the life of a beautiful dog. And, you can vote EVERYDAY until December 14. Please, please help us. We have already had to put off his surgery until December because we have not raised enough money yet. Thank you! Clint thanks you!

First vet visit

Clint's first visit. He came around the corner and whoops! saw himself in the wall mirror. I think he'd like to play with that other dog!

Introduction to Clint

Clint is a typical story… he was left at a kill shelter when his puppy novelty wore off. He was terrified and shaking, but when he was taken out of that place he was sweet and affectionate. He’s a Labradoodle (we think) and is still a puppy, only about 9 months old and 55 pounds. No problem…we’d rescue him and quickly find him a new home, right?

When Clint arrived at his foster home we saw that we walked funny, so we had the vet look take a good look at him and take x-rays. He had to be shaved down… how humiliating.

It turns out that Clint has the worst case of Hip Dysplasia the vet has ever seen in such a young dog. Hip Dysplasia is a genetic disease where the hip joint and the ball on the end of the hind leg do not fit together properly.

Without surgery on both of Clint’s hips, he will live a short and painful life. Costs for this surgery will be approximately $4,000 per hip
. He is on PetFinder at this site: Double Dog rescue-- http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=11169567

If you can make a donation to help Clint get new hips he will be forever grateful. Please go to www.paypal.com and make a donation to Hips4Clint@aol.com. It will go directly into an account set up specifically for Clint who will be forever grateful to you.
