Clint's other hip

Clint is now ready for his other hip. It took a lot of work and therapy to get him through the first hip surgery--he has an appt this week at Univ. of Tn in Knoxville to have his other hip done. We desperately need help with the payments for this so we're out canvassing for donations again. Anything you can give would be terrific, even just $5! Please help this sweet sweet boy get his other hip.

New year, new hip!

Clint has done extremely well after his first hip operation. And it is now time to go for the second operation. We are starting fund-raising again! He will need $4500 for the other hip. He is such a lovely dog, very pretty and so sweet! He deserves all the help we can give him.

After surgery with Clint

Clint is back from vet school. He is doing great today. I am not doing so great. I can't manage all his therapy, ice packs, walks, physical therapy where he is to have numerous times per day he gets special exercises ---so I have a new plan starting on Monday (maybe Sunday if they have any boarders leave on Sunday) Clint is going to Labby Lane for special treatment. Pam (owner of Labby Lane is a vet tech before opening a kennel) and she has the premier kennel any where around here...she just happens to be involved in lab rescue w E TN Lab Rescue, so she is rescue friendly. Here is a link to Labby Lane

http://www.labbylanekennel.com/

Someone is there 24 hours a day. He will be able to get his exercises spaced out evenly, medicine spaced out as well.

Typically they are booked for weeks in advance but on my way home from picking Clint up and after hearing all this stuff he needs (had he had the total hip replacement he would have been resting for a few weeks and then gone into water therapy). With the FHO he needs all this stuff now so the hip will have as much range of motion as possible.

I talked to Pam on my drive back to Chattanooga and she is excited and happy to take Clint in for a few weeks and do all the special care he needs. I will take the money in his account to cover this new expense. I just think this is the best for him as I am concerned about me being able to get his exercises in each day, his ice packs, etc. Labby Lane is where I would want to go if I was a dog - it is top notch.

Just today I am having trouble getting ice on him......he doesn't know "sit" and when I am working with him he insists on standing and as soon as I put him down he pops back up - so the ice pack is not getting the effect exactly as needed. It might be on him a few mins and then he pops up, takes me a few minutes to get him back down and then get ice on him and a few minutes later he pops up. He is not a good patient for me.

I will keep everyone updated and pictures will be coming soon.

PeeEss: another thing - Clint is to have special accommodations.....not the kennel area you see in the pictures.

Also - I went today and got special treats for him to take with him - the kind from the dog bakery and a special new bed, new toys too. I will pack him a suitcase to take with him since he will be staying with Pam for a couple of weeks...just to get us past this hump of all these exercises all thru out the day.

I am just thrilled that she was willing to take him for a few weeks and do the exercises and stuff.
